We assess far more than climbing ability alone. Our coaches will be looking for:

Positive attitude
Commitment and reliability
Willingness to learn
Teamwork and respect for others
Motivation to improve
Physical potential and climbing performance

These qualities are what make great squad athletes and contribute to the positive culture that Rhino Squad is known for.

About Rhino Squad

We pride ourselves in having one of the strongest youth training programs in the country.

Our long-term athlete development plan is carefully designed to provide young climbers with the environment they need to thrive in.

We run both a Development Squad and a Performance Squad so we can tailor our training program to 2 groups of athletes with similar experience levels.

Rhino co-founder, Henning Muller has a wealth of experience in coaching, and oversees our youth training program. His experience stretches from grassroots level all the way up to World Cup level. Having helped athletes along their journeys in becoming regional winners, national champions and international competitors, including athletes from multiple national teams, including Hungary, Hong Kong, Switzerland and GB.

Being part of our squad is more than just training for climbing, our aim is to guide the young climbers onto a life-long journey in climbing.

The Rhino Squad programme is priced at £165/month. It includes 2 sessions per week for each term week (39 weeks/year). Each session last 2 hours.

How to Apply

Places at the trials are limited and advance booking is required. Cost for the trials is £30

Book online or speak to reception to secure your place.

We look forward to meeting the next generation of Rhino Squad climbers.

Hawaiian Social Night

Wed 15 Jul

6pm - late

Join us for a summer evening of climbing, chaos, and questionable outfit choices as Round 2 of the Summer Boulder League kicks off at 6pm, followed by the main social from 7:30pm onwards.

Get on the new set, send what you can, and then switch into full social mode for the evening.

From 7 to 10pm, enjoy happy hour with buy one drink, get the second half price. Members lock in after closing, so once the doors shut, the party does not stop, the vibes just get slightly more unhinged.

No need to book, just turn up with your best outfit: the louder the shirt, the better. Think flowers, shorts you would not normally be seen in, and outfits that make you question your own judgement in a good way.

Route Setting Workshop

Tue 21 Jul

6pm - 9:30pm

The ever popular Route Setting Workshop is back.

Instead of just climbing problems, this is your chance to build them.

You will spend 3.5 hours working alongside one of our experienced setters to plan, tweak, and test your own creations. Once finished, your problems will stay live on the wall for a full 7 week rotation for the whole community to project.

It is a great session if you want to learn the fundamentals of setting, get creative, and leave your mark on the gym.

📅 Tuesday 21st July ⏰ 18:00 to 21:30 📍 Section: Slabby Corner

Spaces are limited, so secure your 3.5 hours spot for £70 before they go.

Grip Strength Competition

Fri 31st Jul

6pm-8pm

Grip Strength Competition is back!

Do you have what it takes to crush the competition?

Join us on Friday 31/07 at 6:00pm for an evening of fierce finger power, friendly rivalry, and serious bragging rights. Think you can knock Dan off the top spot? There's only one way to find out.

Sandstone Social

Sun 9 Aug

Climbing from 2pm
BBQ at 6:30pm

Join us for our annual Sandstone Social as we head outdoors to Harrisons Rocks to enjoy a day climbing on the local sandstone crags.

This is a relaxed community social and a great opportunity to climb outside, meet fellow members, and enjoy a summer day on the rock. Whether you're an experienced outdoor climber or simply fancy coming along to watch and socialise, everyone is welcome.

Please note that this is not an instructed or supervised activity. Participants attend and climb at their own risk and should be competent to climb outdoors independently.

Coming to the crag is completely free. You can arrive at your pace but we'll meet as a group at 2pm in the car park to head to the rocks. For those who would like to stay for the BBQ and beers afterwards, we ask for a contribution of £15 per person to help cover the cost of food and drinks.

As a community we also ask everyone to love and protect our sandstone and follow the BMC Southern Sandstone Code of Practice.

Book your BBQ tickets in advance to secure your place.

We hope to see you there for a fantastic day of climbing, good food, and great company!
