FAQ

Here are some Rhino Rumble Q&As for you

We are super excited to be hosting our first BIG event! We’ll have a climbing competition on, fun challenges, raffle prize draw, live music, tasty food and good vibes!

The event is aimed at anyone and everyone, from first time competitor who just wants to turn up and have fun with some friends, all the way to seasoned competitors who eat other climbers for breakfast.

This is aimed at anyone and everyone looking to climb some fun boulders with friends – No competition experience needed

The open comp is for the slightly more experienced climbers that are perhaps in climbing squads and are looking for a bit more of a challenge

25 boulders per category in both the fun comp and open comp. Some categories will be sharing boulders with another category.
Each category will have their own unique colour tags so you are easily able to identify which boulders are yours

This is a self-scoring comp, and we rely on the competitors to fill out their own
scorecards honestly. The scoring is based on number of tops achieved, and number of zones achieved. To get a top, you must reach the final hold on the climb and hold it in control for 3 seconds with both hands. To score a zone, you must hold the zone hold in control

(What is a zone I hear you ask?) – Each boulder will have a zone (bonus hold) on it and will be marked with coloured tape

  • If you top a boulder first go, you get 10pts
  • If you top a boulder second go you get 7pts.
  • If you top a boulder 3rd go you get 3pts.
  • For 4 or more attempts, you score 1pt

There is no final for the fun comp, but we’ll have a podium celebration around 1730 between the open comp qualifiers (1700) and the finals (1900). The top 6 competitors in all open comp categories go through to the showcase finals.

The gym opens from 9am till late.

2 x fun comp slots: 0930-1200 and 1300-1600.

2 x open comp slots: 1030-1300 and 1400-1700.

We will have 4 challenges for you throughout the day. All competitors are allowed to try the challenges once. First challenge is at 1200 (we’ll have a board in the centre with more info on when the other challenges will be running).

Showcase finals start at 1900.

Raffle prize draw will be at 1700. Fun comp podium will be at 1730. Open comp podium will be immediately after finals

The centre will be closed for general climbing, but (at the time of writing this!) we still have a few tickets available – book yours now

Yes you do! This helps us keep an eye on numbers in the building to ensure we are not over capacity. Tickets can be purchased on  for only £2 per ticket!

***Anyone supervising a youth competitor does not require a spectator ticket – only one supervisor per child
